Simplify:1. Xsq -3x+5-1/2 (3xsq -5x+7) 2. [5-3x+2y-(2x-y)]-(3x-7y+9)

1)    x² - 3x +5 - 1/2(3x² - 5x +7) 
       = x² - 3x +5 - 3/2x² +5x - 7
       = - 1/2x² +2x - 2
2)    [5 - 3x +2y - (2x - y)] - (3x - 7y +9)
      = [ 5 - 3x +2y - 2x + y] - 3x +7y - 9
      = 5 - 5x + 3y - 3x +7y - 9
      = - 8x +2y - 4
