Using,

 {a}^{2} - {b}^{2} = (a + b)(a - b)

( \sqrt{10} + 3)( \sqrt{10} - 3) \\ = { \sqrt{10} }^{2} - {3}^{2} \\ = 10 - 9 \\ = 1

✎ Given

Simplify: ( √10 + 3 ) ( √10 - 3)

✎ Solution

Applying identity to solve this question

✒ a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b)

→ ( √10 + 3 ) ( √10 - 3)

→ (√10)² - (3)²

→ 10 - 9

→ 1

✎ Some Identities

  • (a+b)² = a² + b² +2ab
  • (a-b)² = a² + b² - 2ab
  • (a+b)³ = a³ + b³ + 3ab(a+b)
  • (a-b)³ = a³ -b³ - 3ab(a-b)
  • a² - b² = (a+b)(a-b)
  • a³ + b³ = (a+b)(a² - ab +b²)
  • a³ - b³ = (a-b)(a² + ab +b²)
