At first we need to find the LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) of 4 , 4 and 2. In other words we need to find the LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) of the denominators.

\\

\begin{array}{r | l}2 & 4 \quad 4 \quad 2 \\ \cline{2-2} 2 & 2 \quad 2 \quad 1 \\ \cline{2-2}  & 1 \quad 1 \quad 1 \\\end{array}

LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) = 2 × 2 = 4

\\

\dfrac {12}{4} + \dfrac {15}{4} - \dfrac{13}{2}

 = \dfrac{(1 \: * \: 12) \; +\; (1 \: * \: 15)\; - \; (2 \: * \: 13)}{4}

  = \dfrac{12\; + \; 15 \; - \; 26}{4}

  = \dfrac{27\; - \; 26}{4}

  = \dfrac{1}{4}

\\

\star \; \boxed{\bold{\dfrac {12}{4} + \dfrac {15}{4} - \dfrac{13}{2}  = \dfrac{1}{4}}} \; \star
