Simplify:
2^x-3 = 4^x-1

 {2}^{x - 3}  =  {4}^{ x - 1}

 {2}^{x - 3}  =  {2}^{2(x - 1)}

x - 3 = 2(x - 1)

x - 3 = 2x - 2

 - 3 = 2x - 2 - x

 - 3 = x - 2

x =  - 3 + 2

x =  - 1
