  • The value of (5 + √3)(5 – √3) = 22.

Given :

  • An equation, (5 + √3) (5 – √3).

Required :

  • To simplify the given equation.

Solution :

Given equation,

 \mapsto (5 +  \sqrt{3} )(5 -  \sqrt{3} )

By using identity,

\mapsto (x + y)(x - y) =  {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}

Here,

We have,

  • x = 5.
  • y = √3.

Now, substitute the values of x and y in the identity.

\mapsto (5 +  \sqrt{3} )(5 -  \sqrt{3} )

\mapsto  {(5)}^{2}  -  {( \sqrt{3}) }^{2}

We know that,

  • Square root cuts the power.
  • (5)² = 25.

\mapsto 25 - 3

\mapsto 22

Hence,

The value of (5 + √3) (5 – √3) is 22.
