we know that,

 \sqrt{8}  = 2  \sqrt{2}

so,

5 \sqrt{8}  = 5 \times 2 \sqrt{2}  = 10 \sqrt{2}

Then,

7 \sqrt{2}  + 10 \sqrt{2}  = 17 \sqrt{2}
