For expressing it as the difference of two squares,we have to convert it into the form

(a+b)(a-b),which is actually an identity equal to a²-b²

so we need to express 93 as sum of two numbers ,say a and b,and 87 as the difference of the same numbers

a+b=93⇒eq.1

a-b=87⇒eq.2

solving these two,

eq.1+eq.2

2a=180⇒a=90

so,b=3

⇒93x87=(90+3)(90-3)=90²-3²(This the the required expression)

Question :-------

Simplify 93 × 87 by expressing it as a difference of two squares.

GIVEN :------

  • The number given to express difference of two squares = 93 × 87

TO FIND :-----

  • Simplify 93 × 87 while expressing it as the difference of two squares = ?

STEP - BY - STEP EXPLANATION :------

⇒93 × 87 = ( 90 + 3 ) ( 90 - 3 )

90^{2} - 3^{2}

⇒8100 - 9 = 8091

Therefore, after simplifying 93 × 87 as a difference of two squares we get here the answer as 8,091.
