Step-by-step explanation:

given that

5(y - 4) - 2(y - 9) + 5(y + 6) = 0

solution

solve all brackets

5y - 20 - 2y + 18 + 5y + 30 = 0

add the numbers

5y + 28 - 2y + 5y = 0

combine like terms

8y + 28 = 0

substracts 28 from both side of equation

8y + 28 - 28 = 0 - 28

8y =  - 28

divide both side by same term

 \frac{8y}{8}  =  \frac{ - 28}{8}

divide the numbers

y =  -  \frac{7}{2}
