4 -  \frac{3}{4}  - 1 \frac{1}{8}  - 2 \frac{5}{12}  \\  \\ =  4 -  \frac{3}{4}  -\frac{1 \times 8 + 1}{8}  -  \frac{2 \times 12 + 5}{12}  \\  \\  = 4 -  \frac{3}{4}  - \frac{9}{8}  -  \frac{29}{12}

Take the LCM of denominators:

LCM(1,4,8,12) = 24

 =  \frac{4 \times 24 - 3 \times 6 - 9 \times 3 - 29 \times 2}{24}  \\  \\  =  \frac{96 - 18 - 27 - 58}{24}  \\  \\  =  \frac{96 - (18 + 27 + 58)}{24}

 =  \frac{96 - 103}{24} \\  \\  =  \frac{ - 7}{24}

\boxed{ \bold{\red{Answer:  \frac{ - 7}{24} }}}
