Question:-

Simplify the following

 -  \frac{ 2}{9}  +  \frac{1}{36}

Solution:-

LCM of 9 and 36 is 36

So, convert the both denominators into 36

 -  \frac{2}{9}  \times  \frac{4}{4}  =   - \frac{ 2 \times 4}{9 \times 4}  =  -  \frac{8}{36}

Next,

 \frac{1}{36}  \times  \frac{1}{1}  =  \frac{1}{36}

Solve

 -  \frac{8}{36}  +  \frac{1}{36}

 =  \frac{ - 8 + 1}{36}

 =  -   \frac{7}{36}
