$= { x }^{2} ( {x}^{2} - 1) + 4(x - 1)$

$= {x}^{2} (x + 1)(x -1) + 4(x - 1)$

$= (x - 1)( {x}^{2} (x + 1) + 4)$

$= (x - 1)( {x}^{3} + {x}^{2} + 4)$
