Hi.
Your Question,
==> Simulataneous Equation
✏ x + y = 5...............[1]
and,
✏ x - y = 4.................[2]
Now,
by elimination method we have,
x + y = 5
x - y = 4
_______
2x + 0 = 9
==> 2x = 9
==> x = 9/2
Now,
Substituting the value of x in equation 1,
we have,
==> x + y = 5
==> 9/2 + y = 5
==> y = 5 - 9/2
==> y = (10 - 9)/2
==> y = 1/2
This implies,
x = 9/2 and y = 1/2.
Hope it helps you.

Hii ☺ !!
x + y = 5 ------(1)
And,
x - y = 4 -------(2)
From equation (1) , we get
x + y = 5
x = ( 5 - y ) -------(3)
Putting the value of x in equation (2) , we get
x - y = 4
5 - y - y = 4
-2y = -9
y = 9/2
Putting the value of y in equation (3) , we get
x = 5 - y = 5 - 9/2
x = 10 - 9 /2 = 1/2.
Hence,
x = 1/2 and y = 9/2
x + y = 5 ------(1)
And,
x - y = 4 -------(2)
From equation (1) , we get
x + y = 5
x = ( 5 - y ) -------(3)
Putting the value of x in equation (2) , we get
x - y = 4
5 - y - y = 4
-2y = -9
y = 9/2
Putting the value of y in equation (3) , we get
x = 5 - y = 5 - 9/2
x = 10 - 9 /2 = 1/2.
Hence,
x = 1/2 and y = 9/2
