Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 4y = 4                ________(1)

X - 12y  = 20             ________(2)

x = 20 + 12y      _________(3)

substituting the value of x in Eq (1)

5(20 + 12y) + 4y = 4

100 + 60y + 4y  = 4

64y = 4-100

 y = -96/64

 y = -3/2 or  -1.5  ___________(4)

Substituting the value of y in Eq (2)

x - 12(-3)/2 = 20          (12 is divided by 2 giving six in next step)

x - 6(-3) = 20

X + 18 = 20

x = 20 - 18

x = 2;y = -3/2  ANSWER.
