Answer:

Let ΔABC be such that AC is hypotenuse, AB is base and BC is height.

Then, for acute angle x in the right triangle

sin²x+cos²x

= (BC)²/(AC)² + (AB)²/(AC)²

=(BC²+AB²)/AC²                        [Apply pythagoras theorem]

=AC²/AC²

=1
