As A = x° and B = 90° = π/2, C = π/2 - x. For C, AB is the opposite side, AC remaining the hypotenuse. From (1) and (2) we can see that sin (π/2-x) and cos x are both AB/AC. Hence sin(π/2 - x) = cos x.
