(a+b)whole square + (a-b) whole square = 2(a2+b2)

2(sin2a+cos2a)

2×1

=2

hence proved ...

sin a + cos a)² + (sin a - cos a)² = 2

L.h.s

sin²A + cos²A + 2.sin A.cos A + sin²A + cos²A - 2.sin A.cos A

=> 1 + 1

=> 2
