• consider the LHS

sin(cot^-1{tan[cos^-1x]})

= sin ( cot ^ -1{cot[90-cos^-1x]})

= sin( 90-cos^-1x)

= Cos( cos^-1x)

= X

= RHS

• note that: tanx = cot (90-x)

cosx= sin (90-x)
