As we know that

sin theta = p/h

cos theta = b/h

so, sin²theta + cos² theta = 1

then,

( p/h)² +(b/ h)²

p²/h² + b²/h²

p²+b²/h²

p²+b² = h². ( by Pythagoras theoram)

h²/h²= 1

hence proved
