TO PROVE :

SIN² THETA + COS² THETA = 1

SOLUTION:

Let a, b, c be lengths of right angled triangle

By definition

sinθ=b/c( opposite side/ hypotenuse)

cosθ=a/c( adjacent side/ hypotenuse)

sin² θ+cos² θ= (b²/c²)+(a²/c²) = (a²+b²)/c²

From Pythagoras theorem

c²= a² + b²

∴ ( a²+b² ) /c² = 1

Hence, sin²θ+cos² θ=1

Hence, proved.
