sin A = Perpendicular / Hypotenuse

cos A= Base / Hypotenuse

therefore

sin^2 A = P^2/H^2

cos^2 A = B^2/H^2

sin^2A + cos^2 A = P^2/H^2 + B^2/H^2

sin^2A + cos^2 A = (P^2+ B^2)/H^2

sin^2A + cos^2 A = H^2/H^2

(i.e. PYTHAGORAS THEOROM = P^2 + B^2 = H^2
