The Earth attracts it with the gravity but the Moon moves fast enough to avoid falling upon the Earth. So, for short, the Moon doesn't fall into the Earth attracted by the gravity because it moves fast enough to avoid this. So instead of falling, it keeps an orbit around the Earth.
