Initial cost of the mangoes =Rs 60
final cost be x
since,there is reduction of 25%
thereforce,the quantity that can be purchased now is 4/3rd
now,
4/3 can be written as:
x+1/3x where x is original amount of mangoes
1/3x is the number of increased mangoes=4
1/3x=4
x=4x3=12
initial cost=rs 60
final cost=rs 60/12=5
hence,the orginial cost of each mangoes wasrs 5

Answer:

old price = x

new price = 75% of x (as 25% decresed)

= 3x/4

amount of mangoes = y

(old price) 60 = y * x ------------ (1)

(new price) 60 = (y+4) * 3x/4 ---------(2)

by equation (1)

x = 60/y

putting (1) in (2)

60= (y+4) (3*60)/4y

solving we get y = 12

therefore x = 5
