Since the area of a circle is significantly larger than a rectangle, given the same perimeter, does it really mean that the circle covers a much larger area?

Yes, if the perimeter of the 2 shapes are equal, that doesn't nesseccerily mean that the areas of the 2 shapes are equal too. Maybe not a much larger but like larger. The 2 shape's area might differ for below 50 or around that, there wont be a really large difference between them but there will be a difference between them
