The world is becoming more and more globalized which can be considered a very positive thing on the overall but it is important to note that this globalization brings with itself the probability of more and more disagreements and difference in perspectives which could lead to wars on the small scale as well as on the level of nation vs nation. And in all of this, the threat of mass destruction is maximized with the presence of such destructive nuclear weapons.

A perfect example of this is the nuclear attack of US on of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 which basically still haunts the place as people died not only at the time of the attack but still there are adverse effects. As a result, such weapons can’t be considered global peacemakers because if considered global peacekeepers, it would empower nations to develop them and thus, increase chances of mass destruction.

Even though the development of nuclear weapons has helped towards an integrated world but that integration is a result of weak relationships between countries that are formed more on the basis of fear rather than meaningful relations. There has been some global stability following the increased possession of nuclear weapons by countries across the world but assuming it as the major reason for it would not be justifiable because the catastrophic consequences that would follow any nuclear war would just write off all the global stability there has been in the past.

Nuclear weapons are surely an undeniable threat which are becoming an increasing threat as more and more nations are developing such weapons. Thus, it is better to term them as killing devices and discourage the development or use of nuclear weapons for that case. What's more, given the current regional and international tensions, the risk of nuclear weapons being used is the highest it's been since the Cold War. Nuclear-armed States are modernizing their arsenals, and their command and control systems are becoming more vulnerable to cyber attacks. There is plenty of cause for alarm about the danger and fear in all face.
