Answer:

People belonging to several other castes and communities have also used Singh as a title, middle name or a surname; these include non-Sikh Punjabis, Gujjars (e.g. Nirbhay Singh Gujjar), Marathas (e.g. Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad) and Hindu Jats, (e.g. Bhim Singh Rana), Sikh Jats,(e.g. Maharaja Ranjit Singh).

Singh caste comes in both OBC and General caste and it varies from state to state.

Concept

The Government of India refers to castes that are economically or socially disadvantaged together as the "Other Backward Class." In addition to general castes, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes, it is one of numerous formal classifications of India's population (SCs and STs). In the 1980 Mandal Commission report, it was found that the OBCs made up 52% of the population; in 2006, the National Sample Survey Organization found that the OBCs made up 41% of the population. It is widely believed that there are a significant number of OBCs in India, but many people think there are actually more of them than the numbers provided by either the Mandal Commission or the National Sample Survey.
