The corect answer is (c) endodermis.

This is composed of a single layer of barrel-shaped cells. The Intercellular space is absent.

The tangential as well as radial walls of endodermis have a deposition of water-impermeable, waxy material which is called suberin. It is present in the form of casparian strips.

Some layers of thick-walled parenchymatous cells also lie next to endodermis known as pericycle. During the seconf growth, the cells of the pericycle initiate lateral roots and vascular cambium.
