The earliest and simplest type of fuel injection, single-point simply replaces the carburetor with one or two fuel-injector nozzles in the throttle body, which is the throat of the engine's air intake manifold. For some automakers, single-point injection was a stepping stone to the more complex multipoint system.

The Single Point Injection System is also known as the Throttle Body Injection.

This is a type of fuel injector which delivers fuel to the engine, by way of a nozzle. It is an electrically operated gate. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) decides upon the quantity of fuel that is to be delivered to the engine and when it is to be delivered.

Other fuel injection systems that are used in cars are Multipoint Fuel Injection, Sequential Fuel injection, Direct Injection etc.
