 \sin(x)  -  \cos(x)  =  \sqrt{( \sin(x) -  \cos(x) ) {}^{2}  }

 \sin(x)  \cos(x)  =  \sqrt{( \sin(x) -  \cos(x))  } ^{2}  \\\\  =  \sqrt{ { \sin(x) }^{2}  +  { \cos(x)  - 2 \sin(x) \cos(x)  }^{2} } \\ \\  =  \sqrt{1 - 2 \times  \frac{1}{2} }  \\ \\   =  \sqrt{1 - 1 }  \\  = 0
