Answer:

Let l be the length of the playground and b be the breadth.

Given that,

Length and breadth of the playground are 62 m 60 cm and 25 m 40 cm respectively.

Hence, l=62 m 60 cm and b=25 m 40 cm

We know that 1 m=100 cm

∴ l=62.6 m and b=25.4 m

The amount of turf required to cover the entire playground = area of the playground.

We know that, area of a rectangle =l×b

∴ area of the playground =62.6×25.4=1590.04 m

2

Given that cost of turfing is Rs. 2.50 per square metre.

Hence, cost of turfing the playground = cost of turfing 1590.04 m

2

⇒Rs. 2.50×1590.04=Rs. 3975.10

Also,

Length of covering the field from around = perimeter of the field

Perimeter of the playground =2(62.60+25.40)=176 m [Perimeter of rectangle =2(l+b)]

Hence, length required to cover the playground three times =3×176=528 m

Given that the man walks at the rate of 2 m per second.

Hence, time required for the man to cover the playground three times =

2

528

=264 seconds

⇒4 minutes 24 seonds [1 minute=60 seconds]

Hence, cost of turfing the playground with given dimensions is Rs.3975.10 and at the rate of 2 m per second, the man will take 4 minutes 24 seconds to go three times round the field.
