The boy felt a sense of loss and tragedy when he had to shift to a new place. His old friends, school and house became a part of the past. Now, he was in a new neighbourhood, attending a new school full of strangers. His sense of loss and tragedy deepened when their house got burned down. Then he even lost his cat, clothes, shoes and books.

The day the boy witnessed the love of his new schoolmates in the gym, he realised that he had been too busy feeling bad to even try to make friends with people around him. When he saw how the students had collected so many things for him to use, and how they heartily welcomed him to their homes, his thinking began to change. Finally, a stranger came by with his cat too. That is when the boy felt a true sense of gratitude, because he realised that he had not lost anything. Instead, he had suddenly made so many friends as well.
