SOLUTION

GIVEN

Aris has candies between 7 and 500 pieces. His mother instructed him to distribute 5 candies each to his classmates.

TO DETERMINE

1. The first term

2. The common difference

3. The last term

4. The number students will be given 5 candies each

EVALUATION

Here it is given that Aris has candies between 7 and 500 pieces. His mother instructed him to distribute 5 candies each to his classmates.

So number of chocolates are multiple of 5 and number of chocolates are between 7 and 500

So the number of are of the following

10 , 15 , 20 , 25 ,.............., 490 , 495

This is an arithmetic progression

First term = a = 10

Common Difference = d = 15 - 10 = 5

Last term = 495

Let 495 is the n th term of the Arithmetic progression

Therefore

 \sf{ a + (n - 1)d = 495\: }

  \implies \sf{ 10 + (n - 1)d = 495\: }

  \implies \sf{ 5(n - 1) = 485\: }

  \implies \sf{ (n - 1) = 97\: }

  \implies \sf{ n= 98\: }

FINAL ANSWER

1. The first term = 10

2. The common difference = 5

3. The last term = 495

4. The number students will be given 5 candies each = 98
