NOTE: Actually this question does not seem to be a part of any poem, story, novel etc as there is no mentioning of any particular piece of work. So, I have attempted to make a general interpretation of this answer.
This year, it had been raining and in several regions of India, like that of Maharashtra, Kolkata, Kerala and other regions. Practicing some outdoor game like that of cricket, football etc, amidst situation when it is raining, is really very difficult.
The pitch does not stay dry and one might face lot of trouble within the dry ground. But we did not have much time left for the final much, so we had to utilize every single moment.
But I and my team members had to practice for our upcoming cricket match tournament amidst this kind of of atmosphere.
