A sort of movement in which a molecule moves back and forth about a settled point.
It is very like oscillations. Surprisingly, it is the same as motions. The main contrast is that the term VIBRATION is utilized when motions are having a high recurrence, or in basic terms, when the molecule moves quickly about a settled point.
Examples:
- A tuning fork set to vibrate is a traditional case for this.
- The vibration of the cell phone.
- The vibration of the skin of drum when thumped.
- The motion of the strings of a guitar.
- Seesaws
- Wave patterns (Ocean waves, Sound waves, Radio waves)

Vibratory motion is one of the three types of motion. It is also known as Oscillatory motion.
An object is said to be in vibratory motion, if particles of object move " to and fro" from their mean position.
There are two types of vibratory motion:
1. Forced vibratory motion.
2. Free vibratory motion.

Examples of vibratory motion:
1. Movement of simple pendulum .
2. Movement of swing.
3.Movement of vocal chords.
4. Sound waves travels in the form of longitudinal waves which forms vibratory motion.
5. Movement of string in stringed instruments like Guitar, sitar etch.
6. Movement of cell phone in vibration mode.
