Answer:

The equivalent resistance between points X and Y is 5 ohm.

Explanation:

Given that,

Six resistor each of 10 ohm are connected as shown .

According to figure,

All resistors are equal the potential of the point K and L will be equal.

So,there will not be any current between K and L.

Now,

AB and CD are connected in series.

So, The equivalent resistor is

R'=R_{1}+R_{2}

R'=10+10=20\ ohm

GH and HI are connected in series.

So, The equivalent resistor is

R''=R_{4}+R_{5}

R''=10+10=20\ ohm

Now, R', R'' and FE are connected in parallel

Then, The equivalent resistance is

\dfrac{1}{R}=\dfrac{1}{R'}+\dfrac{1}{R''}+\dfrac{1}{R_{3}}

\dfrac{1}{R}=\dfrac{1}{20}+\dfrac{1}{20}+\dfrac{1}{10}

\dfrac{1}{R}=\dfrac{1}{5}

R=5\ ohm

Hence, The equivalent resistance between points X and Y is 5 ohm.
