Answer:

6 — 50/3 %

x —100%

—> x=6*100/(50/3)= 36

In total, there are 36 students in the class. From them, 36–6=30 students passed the exam

30/36*100=83.33%

about 80%

Concept

Percentages are part of a whole and are expressed as numbers from 0 to 100, not fractions. Everything is 100%, half of it is 50%, and nothing is 0%.

Given

We have been given percentage of students who failed in geometry is 16\frac {2}{3} % percentage and the number of students failed in geometry is six.

Find

We are asked to determine the number of students passes the exam.

Solution

It is given that 16\frac {2}{3} % .On solving this mixed fraction , we get

\frac{16\times3+2}{3} =\frac{50}{3}

Now, let number of students in the class be x .

Only \frac{50}{3} percent of the class is failed which is equal to 6.

\frac{50}{3\times 100}\times x =6\\\\x=\frac{6\times3\times100}{50} \\x=36

Hence , total number students in the class is 36 .

Number of students who passed the exams = total - fail students

                                                                          = 36-6

                                                                          = 30

Percentage of students who passed the exams =\frac{passed\ students}{total} \times100

                                                                                =\frac{30}{36} \times100\\=83.33\ percent

Approxiamtely , 80% of the students passes the exams .

Therefore ,  80 % of the students passed the exams which is option (C)
