6–x=1/4(x+45)

6=1/4(x+45)+x

6*4=x+45+x

24=x+45+x

2x=45-24

2x=21

x=21/2

Let the number = x

according to the problem given ,

x - 6 = ( 45 + x )/4

=> 4( x - 6 ) = 45 + x

=> 4x - 24 = 45 + x

=> 4x - x = 45 + 24

=> 3x = 69

=> x = 69/3

x = 23
