Answer:

A's age = 9 years

B's age = 12 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Six years ago A was half of B's age
  • Their present ratio is 2:3

To Find: Total sum of their present ages

Solution: Let present ages of two be A and B

According to the question

\small\implies{\sf } A:B = 2:3

\small\implies{\sf } 3A = 2B .......(1)

or,

\small\implies{\sf } A–6 = B–6/2

\small\implies{\sf } 2A12 = B–6

\small\implies{\sf } 2AB = 6+12

\small\implies{\sf } 2AB = 6

\small\implies{\sf } 2A= 6+B.........(2)

Now, Putting the value of equation (2) in equation (1) , We got

\small\implies{\sf } 2(6+B) = 3B

\small\implies{\sf } 12+2B = 3B

\small\implies{\sf } 12 = 3B2B

\small\implies{\sf } 12 = B

Hence , Age of B is 12 years

And, Age of A = 6+12/2 = 18/2 = Years
