Let the present age of salma is x years and that of sabir is y years.
Then by the given question, (x-6)/(y-6)=1/2
or, 2x-12=y-6
or, 2x-y=-6+12
or, 2x-y=6
or, -y=6-2x
or, y=2x-6--------------------(1)
and, (x+6)/(y+6)=3/4
or, 4x+24=3y+18
or, 4x-3y=18-24
or, 4x-3y=-6
or, 4x-3(2x-6)=-6 ;using(1)
or, 4x-6x+18=-6
or, -2x+18=-6
or, -2x=-6-18
or, -2x=-24
or, x=12
Then, y=2.12-6=24-6=18
Therefore, age of salma is 12yrs. and age of sabir is 18 yrs.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the ages of salma and sabir be x and y

now accor. to the question,

the equations will be,

x-6/y-6=1/2,

x+6/y+6=3/4

now solving them

2x-12=y-6    and 4x+24=3y+18

2x-y=6 or 4x-2y=12 (multiplying by two)  and 4x-3y=-6

solving them

 4x-2y=12

- 4x-3y=-6

= y=18

now find the value of x by putting the value of y in one of the equation
