six years hence age of man will be 3 times the age of his son and three years ago he was 9 times old as his son. find the present ages

Man's age today = M
Son's age today = S

M+6 = 3 (S + 6)    =>   M = 3 S + 12 

M - 3 = 9 (S - 3)   =>  M = 9 S - 24

So  3 S + 12 = 9 S - 24 
 
          6 S = 36 
 
Son's age = 12 years
Fathers age = M = 48 years
