Let sandeep's present age be x years and sunil's be y years. Six years ago, Sandeep's age = (x-6) years Sunil's age = (y-6) years. A.T.P (y-6) = 3(x-6)  y-6 = 3x-18 y = 3x-12 .....(i) Six years later, Sandeep's age = (x+6) years Sunil's age =(y+6) years A.T.P. y+6 = 5/3(x+6) 3(y+6) = 5(x+6) 3(3x-12+6) = 5x+30    from (i) 9x-18-5x-30 = 0 4x-48 = 0 4x = 48 x = 12 years. Putting x=12 in (i) y = 3 x 12 - 12 y = 36-12 = 24 years.
