siya has discarded old, broken and malfunctioning hard disk without taking care to delete data . is it harmful in respect of security concern ? justify your answer

The hard disk is old so it won't support a new PC(may or may not depends on motherboard) and if it does support, it is broken and also malfunctioning if the break down is repaired(mostly can't be repaired) and if repaired, final step would be for to format and use(which due to malfunction would not be possible) which will obviously remove all data if someone tries to retrieve or restore, so no worries about security,
By the way simple in short to say: The condition is soo bad that it just won't work and no repair is available due to that no harm for security
