Image will be 12 cm, only the parts that are at the within the height of the mirror will be reflected.

Explanation:

A plane mirror is a mirror that has a flat reflective surface. Image of an object in front of the plane mirror will appear to be formed behind the planar surface of the mirror. The image is always virtual, erect and of the same shape and size as the object.

Size of the object is 20 cm. So the size of the image will be the same size as the image and hence image will be 20 cm.

But the size of the mirror is only 12 cm, hence the image will be of the corresponding parts of the object that is at the level of the mirror. So the image will be a part image and not full and it will be 12 cm out of the 20 cm object.

Example, only your face and neck being reflected by the mirror above the bathroom sink, instead of your full body.
