Nuclear power plant

Explanation:

The process of generation of electricity from nuclear fission in a nuclear Power Plant is as follows:

Step 1

  • Fission of Uranium 235 nuclei produces energy in the form of heat.

Step 2

  1. Gas from reactor core gets heated up
  2. cold gas goes back to the reactor core to get heated again

Step 3

  • Heat energy of the hot gas from Step 2 i)  boils the water to steam

Step 4

  • Flow of steam drives the turbines
  • the steam condenses back to water

Step 5

  • Turbines turn the coils in the generator to generate electricity.

The transformation of energy in a nuclear plant is summarized as follows:

Nuclear energy from fissionHeat carried by hot partkinetic energy of steamkinetic energy of turbineselectrical energy
