Answer:

Lomov was an unmarried man who was past his prime age. He suffers from nervousness and palpitations. Thus he wished to settle down and lead a marital life. Despite his ailments, Lomov was a wealthy and prosperous man. He was quarrelsome, childish and stubborn who fought over petty issues like the ownership of oxen meadows and the superiority of their dogs. He was foolish because he came to propose Natalya but started to argue over negligible things. When he came to propose Natalya, he became nervous and started to beat about the bush. This reflects his low self esteem and lack of self confidence. He was childish as well as disrespectful since he started cursing Chubukov's family and even their ancestors.
