Character Sketch of Shadwell:
John Dryden writes a short sarcastic poem 'Mac Flecknoe' in which Flecknoe chooses Shadwell as a worthy successor to the throne. Flecknoe thinks that Shadwell resembles him and so should be ruling the kingdom.
He finds Shadwell as a bad poet. Shadwell plagiarises other poet's contents and takes credits for it. He is dull and has no sense of responsibility. He writes bad plays and weak poems.
