We know that,

  • Area of a triangle A is given by

A= 1/2×b×h

where,

b is the length of base of triangle

h is the length of height of triangle

From the diagram, it is clear that figure formed by the intersection of given line and coordinate axes is Triangle.

Also, from the diagram

In ∆ABC

AB is base of triangle of length 5 units

AC is height of triangle of length 3 units

A= 1/2×b×h

A= 1/2×5×3

A= 1/2×15

A= 15/2
