Given  :   -2x₂ = - 8

points (-4,8) and (6 , - 12)

To Find :   Sketch the plane representing -2x₂ = - 8

Determine the midpoint of the line segment connecting the points.  (-4,8) and (6 , - 12)

Distance between points

Solution:

-2x₂ = - 8

=> x₂ = 4

=> x= 4

a line parallel to y axis passing through  ( 4 , 0 )

midpoint of the line segment connecting the points.  (-4,8) and (6 , - 12)

= ( -4 + 6)/2 , ( 8 - 12)/2

= 2/2  ,  -4/2

=  1,  - 2

midpoint  = ( 1 , - 2)

distance separating the two points.

√(6 - (-4))² + (-12 - 8)²

= √100 + 400

= 10√5   units
