Simplest Explanation for the Blue Color of the Sky:

Since, blue color has the shortest wavelength than red, so it is scattered much more strongly. Hence, sky looks blue. In fact, violet color gets scattered even more but our eyes are more sensitive to blue than violet.

OR

Blue color of sky is due to scattering of sunlight. Light from the sun, while travelling through earth's atmosphere, gets scattered by number of molecules in the earth's atmosphere. As x<<α, Rayleigh scattering is valid. The intensity of scattered light varies inversely as the fourth power of the wavelength of light. As blue color has a shorter wavelength than red, therefore, blue color is scattered much more strongly. Hence, when the sky is clear, it looks blue.

Here is your answer.

☆ Sky appears blue in colour because of atmospheric refraction.

☆ Blue light scattered in all directions by tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere.

☆ Blue is scattered more than other colours because it travels as shorter smaller waves.

☆ This is why we see blue sky at most of time.

☆ Hope that this helps you ☆
