The growing use of plastic is of course a meneace in the society. We can't see a place where plastic is not seen. It is omnipresent. Plastic, being non- biodegradable, is an environmentally hurdle. Its polluted land, water and air also.
Plastic takes more than a thousand years to decompose in small pieces which seep down the soil and release harmful chemicals. These chemicals further pollute water. Plastic bags not only pollute atmosphere during their manufacturing and after that being discarded but are also lethal to aquatic life.
Plastic is lighter than water, thus, its floats over it ceasing the mixture of oxygen from air into water.
Instead of Using plastic, we should shift our demand to use of biodegradable stuff. Educating retailers, ecologists, common man, school kids about the ill- effects of plastic may prove useful.
