The great Indian bustard lives in dry grasslands and savannahs across the Indian subcontinent, with the greatest concentrations in the Rajasthan.  Great Indian bustards are towering birds with long - legged and a long neck; the world's highest individuals can reach 1.2 metres (4 feet) in height. The males and females are approximately the same size, with the biggest individuals weighing 15 kg (33 pounds). The colour of the feathers distinguishes males and females. Males have black feathers on the top of their heads, as well as a whitish neck, breast, and underparts, and brown wings with black and white markings.
